JOJO SUES BLACKGROUND RECORDS FOR RELEASE
JoJo wants out. After being stuck in limbo for seven years, the singer is suing Blackground Records for her release.
According to the New York Daily News, JoJo has filed a lawsuit against Da Family Records and Blackground Records claiming that under New York State law, minors cannot sign contracts that last more than seven years.
JoJo and her parents signed a contract in 2004 when she was 12. She argues that her contract was up in March 2011.
The 22-year-old has had a highly-publicized battle with her label and has not released a commercial album since 2006′s The High Road.

JAY Z FALLS TO NO. 2, RICH GANG EARNS TOP 10 DEBUT
Jay Z has been knocked from his throne. Magna Carta… Holy Grail falls to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 this week.
The hip-hop titan’s album sold 77,000 copies in its third week (down 40%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was bumped from the top spot by Selena Gomez, who earns her first No. 1 with Stars Dance (97,000).
FRANK OCEAN CANCELS OVO FEST PERFORMANCE DUE TO VOCAL INJURY
Frank Ocean has been forced to pull out of his appearance at the 4th Annual OVO Fest due to a vocal cord injury.
The channel ORANGE singer was set to perform on the first day of Drake’s two-day festival at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto on August 4.
Due to his injury, the entire day has been canceled, Live Nation announced on Tuesday (via Billboard). Tickets for opening night will be refunded.
James Blake, who was to perform at Sunday’s show, will now join the lineup for the August 5 concert alongside Drake and Wale.

During her interview with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex, Young Money’s First Lady was asked for her insight into the situation.

Timbaland is apologizing to Chris Brown over comments he made about his Aaliyah collaboration.
In an interview with Revolt TV, Timbaland said that he doesn’t like other artists doing posthumous collaborations with the late singer. “In music, people always say I would do a song with Aaliyah. It would never work,” he said. “Chris Brown got a record, it won’t work. Drake [did] a record with Aaliyah, it ain’t gonna work ’cause Aaliyah music only work with its soulmate, which is me.”

During an interview with Revolt TV, the super-producer revealed that he has produced a collaboration between Nas, Jay-Z, and Justin Timberlake.
“Nas got a song right now with him, Jay, and Justin, and it’s completely stupid,” said Timbo. “It’s called ‘Sinatra in the Sands’ and Justin sounds like Frank Sinatra.”
He plans to add more of his platinum touch to Nas’ next album. “I told Jay this, the person that gets me from hip-hop now, their album is really gonna be phenomenal, and that’s Nas.”
