NEW MUSIC: SOLANGE FEAT. LIL WAYNE – ‘MAD’

Solange and Lil Wayne get “Mad” on their new collaboration off A Seat at the Table.

Despite the title, “Mad” is also mellow. Weezy lets off some frustration on his bars. “I used to rock hand-me-downs,” he raps. “And now I rock standing crowds / But it’s hard when you only got fans around / And no fam around / And if they are, then their hands are out.”

Meanwhile, Solange uses the track to vent, as well. “I ran into this girl,” she sings. “I said, ‘I’m tired of explaining’ / Man, this shit is draining / But I’m not really allowed to be mad.”

This isn’t the first time Solange and Weezy have collaborated. The two also teamed up on “ChampagneChroniKnightcap” off Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams.

A Seat at the Table has been getting rave reviews since its release. The Los Angeles Times called it “triumphant.”Complex deemed it a “black empowerment album,” and NPR celebrated it as “bold and beautiful.”

Beyoncé also praised her little sis. “Congrats to my sister on creating this beautiful work of art,” wrote Queen Bey. “I could not be more proud of you @saintrecords.”

Aside from Wayne, the album features a slew of stars, including Q-Tip, Sampha, The-Dream, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Kelly Rowland.
