Rihanna And Taylor Swift Lead 2012 MTV Europe Music Award Nominations

It’s girl power at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, where Rihanna and Taylor Swift lead the pack of nominees, with Lady Gaga, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lana Del Rey and Katy Perry also scoring multiple nods.

RiRi has a chance to follow-up her big win at the VMAs by dominating the EMAs. Her six nominations include Best Song and Best Video for ‘We Found Love,’ plus Best Pop, Best Female, Best Look and Biggest Fans. Swift pocketed five noms, including Best Pop, Best Female and Best World Stage.

The Best Video category pits Rihanna against Gaga’s ‘Marry the Night,’ Perry’s ‘Wide Awake,’ M.I.A.‘s ‘Bad Girls’ and Psy‘s viral smash ‘Gangnam Style.’

Even though the ladies lead the field, the guys weren’t totally overlooked. One Direction and Justin Bieber have a chance to take home multiple awards. Both are nominated for Biggest Fans, while the guys in 1D are among a talented class of Best New Artist nominees, along with Rita Ora, fun., Jepsen and Del Rey.

The 2012 EMAs air live from Frankfurt, Germany on Nov. 11. Fans can help determine the winners by voting at the official EMA website.
