M.I.A.’s album has been plagued by delays. But it looks like the project will finally see the light of day this fall.
The follow-up to 2010′s /\/\/\Y/\ will be released on November 5, according to Pitchfork.
Just yesterday, she threatened to leak the album if she didn’t get a date from her label. “If interscope takes longer i can always leak this next week and make a new one by the time they are ready,” tweeted M.I.A., who is managed by Roc Nation.
She has been in the studio with Hit-Boy and Switch and Surkin, who produced the single “Bring the Noize.”
“It was written in lots of different circumstances, but I guess it’s coming out at a time where I think in America it’s kinda cool to hear something like this,” M.I.A. told Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1. “It’s in keeping with what I released before, so I’m gonna gradually ease people into the new sound as the album goes on.”
In the interim, she has released several tracks including “Only 1 U,” “Doobie,” “atTENTtion,” and an eight-minute mix for fashion house Kenzo.
