JA RULE RELEASED FROM PRISON

Ja Rule is a free man. The New York rapper was released from prison today after serving his sentences for attempted illegal gun possession and tax evasion.

According to TMZ, the 37-year-old departed Ray Brook Federal Prison in New York on Tuesday morning. His wife reportedly picked him up around 10 a.m. and drove him home. He will remain on home confinement until July 28.

Rule pled guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in 2010 and was sentenced to two years behind bars stemming from a 2007 incident when a loaded weapon was found in his car.

In July 2011, the “Put It On Me” hitmaker was ordered to serve 28 months in prison for tax evasion. He served the tax evasion sentence at the same time as his gun possession sentence.

He was originally set for release in July, but was let out early.

Rule previously shared his post-prison plans to launch a world tour. “I want the bus to come straight to the prison and take me to my first show,” he told Rap-Up.com in 2011. “Put my family on the bus, have them come to the first few cities, send them back home, and let me keep going. It’ll be international; 40 cities in 40 nights.”
